Wine of The Week – Fleur de California Rosé
While we have made Fleur de California Rosé for over 17 years, this is our first vintage making it from the Sonoma Coast appellation. These grapes were harvested earlier in the season than would be optimal for red wines, because we are focused on capturing bright acidity and fresh flavors.
The fruit is pressed without extra skin contact, resulting in a more delicate color and flavor profile. The resulting wine has pretty aromas of grapefruit and peach, with hints of watermelon and strawberry. In the mouth there is a nice balance between texture and crispness that makes it perfect either with or without food. We find this style to be extremely versatile and pleasurable to pair with meals, whether sushi, light pasta dishes, roast chicken, or just a melon and prosciutto appetizer.
