On the nose, darker fruit aromas of freshly picked cherries, plum, and cranberry abound. This Pinot
Noir fills the palate with luxurious red fruit flavors that are enhanced by a note of exotic spice
(a trademark of Carneros Pinot) and a touch of new French oak. The wine’s acidity is in perfect
balance and the mouthfeel is supple and broad – a hallmark of superb Pinot Noir.
This wine is gorgeous, leaning toward an elegant, red-fruited style rather than the typical
Californian profile of dark ripe berries. The oak is likewise subtle in character, with a
lighter toast profile that accentuates rather than masks the fruit, while adding length
and texture to the palate. Packaged in heavy glass and sealed with antique-gold wax.
This wine is fermented cold and slow to retain bright fruit aromas, then aged in a combination of stainless tank and neutral barrels on the yeast lees for about 4 months. To preserve acidity we do not allow mallow lactic fermentation to occur. The resulting wine is a bright, clean expression of citrus and peach aromas with a tangy and refreshing palate.
